Which is best: Plesk or CPanel?

Cpanel Server Support
CPanel and Plesk are both feature rich control panels that have similar functions. They are however organized in different manner and have different security model. Also the terminology incorporated in both is slightly different from each other.

Common different between the both are:

1. CPanel is available on shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPred S/CPanel, Linux dedicated whereas Plesk is available on Windows shared and Windows dedicated only.

2. Plesk has simple layout and is good for beginners because of easy navigation. It is based on function and because of that users can easily find out the icons based on the basis of category. However CPanel provides more powerful options and allow the user to restart services viz. FTP, DNS, POP3 and SSH without remembering and entering complicated commands it is apt choice for advanced users.

3. Plesk is largely catered to windows users as it will run much better than C Panel on Windows. Whereas C Panel supports Cent OS, BSD Distros, Free BSD, Red Hat and Linux OS.

4. As C panel is easy and simple one with modest amount of web hosting management experience can handle it with great ease. Wheres Plesk is having cleaner and more professional responsive user Interface and requires little time to get used to it.

5. C Panel supports two major Linux and one BSD Distro whereas Plesk works on far more platforms than C Panel.

6. CPanel as per the name has two separate applications. The first being CPanel for its domain owners and the latter being WHM for the administrators of the server. Each has separate log in points and leads to a completely different backend. Plesk on the other hand has one single unified log in points for both administrators and users.

7. One gets free control services from many hosts that will offer free migration services if moving from control panels of similar kind whereas in Plesk inspite of having its own migration system, the process is nowhere near as neat or as pretty transferring between same control panel. The reason for such haphazard migration is that the compatibility issues are common.

8. CPanel is more of user friendly nature and Plesk is extremely useful software when managing IIS servers and has umpteen numbers of features.

9. Other points of difference are economical price of CPanel followed by easy to use features and in build plug ins available makes CPanel most user friendly.

Both Plesk and CPanel are the industry acclaimed control panel providers. They provide fast, stable and secure control panels for the servers. But versatility of any hosting panel largely determined by its usage and the range of applications that it can support in simplifying the web hosting process.  Selection depends on the operating system one has incorporated.
